Maxi Skirts
Long skirts split deep at the side seam
Once the skirt is on, the only thing left is what goes above it. Very little, usually. Slip skirts move quicker than the rest and take the evening on. A split runs deep at the side seam and opens as far as the knee when you walk. The waist sits high and flat, with nothing gathered into it on the straighter shapes. The hem stops at the ankle rather than on the floor.
Maxi skirts beside the shorter lengths
The looser skirts sit at the fullest end of this. Midi skirts stop short of the ankle. Deeper shades take it further into an evening and a pale one holds the light. A hem this long picks up whatever is on the floor of a tram. There is enough cloth in one that it moves a moment before you do.
