Flats

Flat shoes with a round toe and low front

A softer upper sits low across the front, with the toe round rather than drawn to a point. With tailoring the proportion shifts downward and the hem finds a new place to sit. An elastic across the top holds the foot with nothing to fasten.

Ballet flats through the warm months

A fine sock turns up somewhere around the middle of the year and disappears again. In the heat, sandals do the same thing with a good deal less shoe. Bare feet for the months in between the two. Black is the least noticeable of them under a long pant. A ribbon at the front of a few, and a plain edge on the rest.
