Shorts
Shorts hemmed above the knee, either way
The washed pair asks the least of a morning. A blazer over the top takes an afternoon somewhere it was not going. The rest is a question of how high the waist sits. Above the knee is where nearly all of it lands, some a hand's width up and some nearer the middle of the thigh. A cuff on some of them holds the hem where it is.
Tailored shorts at one end, easier at the other
The bermuda shorts take the tailored end of it, longer through the leg and quiet about it. The easier cuts sit at the other end, fuller through the hip and hemmed a little shorter. In the middle of it a shirt over the top is the whole outfit. By evening the tailored ones take a heel and the rest take a flat.
