EC Muse — Lauren Burns

We chat with creative and EC Muse Lauren Burns, whose considered approach to style effortlessly balances coastal and city life, guided by a philosophy to "focus always on quality and longevity."

Lauren's manner of dressing is rooted in ease and intention - prioritising comfort without compromise, refined silhouettes over trends, and elevated essentials that move effortlessly through the rhythms of everyday life.

Walk us through a day in your life. Are there any non-negotiable rituals that shape your mornings?

Coffee in bed! I've always been a coffee drinker but even more so with our newest addition (and sleep disruptor). We always go for a coastal walk to get out of the house and reset too. It's a game changer for my mental health and means we still prioritise Kev (our golden retriever).

Your body and lifestyle have evolved through different chapters of life. How has your approach to dressing shifted, and what do you now prioritise when building a wardrobe?

I think my approach to dressing has remained the same throughout - I definitely leant into elasticated pants more while I was pregnant, but other than that I don't think my personal style changed. I don't gravitate towards trends and I think that's how I've built a really solid core wardrobe that I can reach for no matter what the occasion. A crisp white tee, wide leg trousers, leather flip flops and Ray-Bans will always be my go to look!

Based between the Central Coast and Sydney, how does the coastal environment influence the way you dress and the pieces you gravitate towards day to day?

I think it influences the fabrics and silhouettes I look for. I still opt for pants over dresses and monochrome over prints, but I definitely wear more breathable fabrics like silk, and tend to wear more oversized pieces as well. Comfort always comes first and when the fabrications are luxe, basic or "plain" outfits aren't boring.

Does your love for interiors and design influence your creative eye, and if so, how does that show up in your personal style?

Absolutely. I think it's a big part of why I love dressing quite minimal and refined. My focus is always on quality and longevity - in my wardrobe and my home.

Elka Collective is known for refined, versatile pieces designed for everyday life. Are there particular silhouettes or staples you're currently drawn to that reflect this chapter of your life?

Yes! As you may have gathered I'm a pants girl so I'm absolutely loving the Miller Pant and Harumi Pant - they're both extremely comfortable and flattering no matter what you pair them with. The Mallory Maxi Dress is also a new fave - it gives off major resort vibes, super chic!
