Indian-Australian model and multidisciplinary creative, Bella Thomas has a rich career working across fashion, culture and lifestyle. Bella sat with us to discuss how her life has influenced her style and focus.

Tell us about yourself and your career to date? What/who have influenced your work?

Hi, I'm Bella! I'm a model and creative, and I've been working in this world for over ten years now - which feels wild to say out loud. Time really does fly. When I'm not on set, I'm usually producing content for brands. I'm constantly hopping between my tiny desk, the kitchen, the bathroom, the sunroom, or a friend's well-lit wall. I'm always chasing good light. I also write a Substack called Nice Nothings, which brings me a lot of joy. It's a space where I get to connect with my community in a more intimate, thoughtful way.

Born and raised by the sea, how does nature influence your creative focus?

I always come back to nature when I need to slow down. Living in Sydney, I'm incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so much beauty. Driving down for an afternoon swim off the rocks has become a midweek ritual for me. It can be hard to switch off sometimes, so ending the workday with a dip helps me clear my head and unwind for the evening.

Where is your favourite place you have travelled to?

Very hard to say, but probably India.

How do you adapt your personal style to different chapters in your life? Do you have any pieces that are particularly meaningful?

When I was younger, I was a lot more experimental with my style. I still remember these metallic pale-green lace-up shoes I adored. These days, I gravitate toward a well-fitted uniform. I keep a few pieces I can mix in to elevate a look, like a vintage scarf or some kind of wrap.

What is a staple in your wardrobe that you cannot go past?

I love all my scarves and wraps, they're pieces that I pull anytime of year to elevate a look.

What pieces are you most drawn to from Elka Collective?

I really love the Wren maxi dress and the Winslet knit, I think they're both beautiful staples.
